Position Overview

The City of New York is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Customer Service Representative within the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This position is critical in delivering exceptional service to the residents of New York City.

Role Responsibilities

The Customer Service Representative will be responsible for:

  • Effectively communicating via phone and live chat to manage inquiries from various departments, including Vital Records and Health Academy.
  • Providing guidance to customers on obtaining and correcting vital records.
  • Assisting customers in navigating the E-vital status portal for order tracking.
  • Responding to inquiries related to COVID-19 and directing them to the appropriate resources.
  • Facilitating literature orders for health-related materials.
  • Supporting medical providers in reporting illnesses and conditions to the agency.
  • Providing up-to-date information during emergency events.

Candidate Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

  1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; or
  2. An associate degree and two years of relevant experience in customer service; or
  3. A high school diploma and four years of relevant experience; or
  4. A combination of education and experience that meets the requirements.
