Nursing Assistant I/II Job Description

Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Nursing Assistant I/II provides support to professional staff in in-patient nursing services at Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to work in a team environment and provide excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Take vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assist with postmortem duties.
  • Provide limited clerical support and transport patients as needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Three months of experience in a licensed nursing facility or comparable work experience.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certificate prior to the first day of employment.
  • Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA Certificate) issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs (optional).
Working Conditions:

The Nursing Assistant I/II will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling. The ability to move, position, and lift patients and/or equipment is essential.
