Position Overview

Role Summary:

The Chaplain serves a vital role in delivering spiritual support and pastoral care to patients, their families, and healthcare staff within the hospice setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough assessments of the spiritual needs and circumstances of patients, families, and caregivers.
  2. Provide pastoral care as needed, either upon referral or at the chaplain's discretion.
  3. For individuals of diverse faith backgrounds seeking spiritual guidance, facilitate connections with appropriate clergy or religious leaders in the community.
  4. Offer emotional and spiritual support to hospice personnel.
  5. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  6. Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  7. Contribute to the evaluation, education, and resolution of ethical medical dilemmas within the hospice environment.
  8. Enhance the spiritual component within the interdisciplinary team framework.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of a theological education program or a minimum of two years of experience in pastoral ministry within a church or similar organization.
  2. Possession of a valid driver's license and capability to travel within the designated service area.
  3. Proven abilities in spiritual assessment and counseling.
  4. Current certification in CPR.

Work Environment:

This role involves travel by vehicle and exposure to varying weather conditions. The chaplain operates in diverse residential settings based on their assigned caseload.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to deliver spiritual care in high-pressure situations.
  2. Physically equipped to sustain work in demanding environments.
