Job Description

As a Data Center Construction Project Manager at Pkaza, you will be responsible for managing assigned data center construction jobs within the whitespace with data center fit outs. You will keep in constant contact with all stakeholders to ensure timely work and keep the project on time and within budget. You will also ensure that equipment is purchased and onsite at the project when needed. Your focus will be on meeting and exceeding customer needs and expectations through the life of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead assigned projects from inception to successful completion following project specifications and safety/OSHA protocols
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring quality delivery on schedule
  • Build project plans, scope of work (SOW), bill of materials (BOM), order and track materials, and schedule team members when needed
  • Establish and manage critical work environment project objectives, performance standards, planning, and methods of procedure
  • Mentor and lead engineers through direct support and indirect efforts
  • Perform hands-on construction tasks as needed, including cabinet installation, security caging assembly, and air containment system setup
  • Review assigned projects for accuracy, profitability, and adherence to corporate values
  • Perform periodic QA inspections of assigned field projects
  • Participate in pre-construction and regular status meetings with customers and other vendors to ensure clear expectations and scopes of work
  • Conduct site surveys and validate that plans, materials, and expectations align with conditions and identify any potential challenges or issues
  • Collaborate with peers and operations management to ensure project success
  • Prepare all reports and close-out documents per job requirements
  • Point of contact for customer and team members with urgent needs, including emergency and scheduled maintenance, outages, and quick turn quoting
  • Maintain liaison and actively communicate with external and internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate construction activities at the data center job site
  • Keep abreast of latest industry trends and technologies and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency
  • Review design layout of systems with Revit/AutoCAD for installation

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of data center/critical facilities infrastructure/whitespace construction experience, including white space and cabling infrastructure design
  • Background in space planning, cabinet installation, racks, power strips, connectivity, structured cabling, telecom network deployment, physical security caging, and air containment systems
  • Familiarity with data center products, including overhead basket tray and supporting trapeze, fiber trough, fiber panels, racks, cabinets, air flow containment, structured cabling, fiber and copper panels, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site drawings, and diagrams, and all other provided materials, including one-lines, Revit, or AutoCAD
  • Extrapolate requirements to create take-off materials, including quotes, scope of work (SOW), method of procedure (MOPs and SOPs), etc.
  • Working familiarity with related technologies, including air flow management, access control, environmental monitoring
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Experience working for a General Contractor or Trade
  • Previous administrative experience managing change orders, billing, creating reports, etc.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Personable/ability to build rapport with both internal and external customers
  • Client-facing/client relationship/client management skills
  • Belong to local professional organizations, including 7x24, AFCOM, Uptime, DataCenterDynamics, Bisnow, BICSI, a plus, RCDD a Huge Plus
  • Previous experience in the Military/Military Veterans a huge plus
  • Experience with Electrical/Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, SeaBees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
