About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist Specialist to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative, and postoperative phases of surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring the proper handling of surgical instruments.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and support.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in surgical technology.
  • Assume on-call status as determined by department manager and according to department needs.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two (2) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist in all surgical specialties.
  • Demonstrates advanced skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technologist.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in ability to scrub ophthalmology procedures and total joint procedures or proficiency in ability to scrub Cardiac procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to serve as a preceptor and role model for new Surgical Technologist staff and Surgical Technologist students during their clinical rotations.
  • Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrates a caring, compassionate attitude toward others.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining calm, efficient, and focused.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately both in oral and written English skills.
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit-based task forces, and committees.
  • Seeks opportunities for improving job knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to assume on-call status as determined by department manager and according to Department needs.
  • Demonstrates ability to role model proficient, intermediate, or advanced technical skills and specialty skills.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
  • BLS.
