Job Summary:
The Nurse Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care at Hackensack Meridian Health. This position requires a strong leader who can manage day-to-day operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and goals, ensuring alignment with patient care, quality, and organizational initiatives.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring all team members are knowledgeable in emergency/disaster response policies and procedures, with unit-specific response plans as needed.
- Monitor nursing standards of practice, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies.
- Develop, plan, evaluate, and consistently monitor budgetary and financial priorities, including payroll and scheduling, to ensure effective use of organizational resources.
- Promote cost-effective use of resources, supporting financial objectives and targets while managing acuity workload, volume, variable staffing plans, productivity, variance analysis, budget preparation, and equipment/supply management.
- Demonstrate leadership skills by establishing and maintaining mutually supportive partnerships in care, displaying effective communication, coaching, and mentoring of team members.
- Supervise, plan, evaluate, and monitor educational programs, evidence-based practice, and support team members in collaboration with the Department of Education, ensuring participation as required.
- Support the Magnet Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring the support of a shared governance model, collection of data, writing of exemplars, and coordination of the document as requested.
- Prioritize organizational goals and incorporate them into standard work, leading and/or participating in committee work with clear performance improvement goals consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of nursing and the organization.
- Professionally review complaints or opportunities for improvement with timely follow-up to the appropriate department, up to and including service recovery efforts with patients and/or families, administration, or regulatory agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Three (3) years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- National Certification in an area of specialty preferred when eligible.
- Three (3) years' progressive leadership experience.
