Job Summary

The Plant VTIS Systems Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the processing and fluid-intake areas of the plant. This position requires a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills to provide daily technical support and guidance to the Processing Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Active involvement in all Safety programs, audits, and policies.
  • Collaboration with maintenance and engineering to develop process improvements and system upgrades.
  • Development and maintenance of a formalized training program for VTIS technicians.
  • Conducting audits on process procedures and providing options to increase productivity.
  • Working with the VTIS manager to set reclaim setpoints and adjustments.
  • Sharing oversight of the PM program, including requesting downtime, prioritizing completion, and updating intervals based on failure rates.
  • Following up on diverts, unplanned shutdowns, equipment failures, and state-timing as necessary.
  • Collaboration with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot problems and keep production running.
  • Conducting frequent equipment walkthroughs to spot potential problems while the systems are in operation.
  • Overseeing maintenance on the systems to ensure accurate and efficient work.
  • Working with the VTIS coordinators and manager to develop and update processing SOPs.
Requirements:
  • Experience in dairy, preferably ESL or fresh Grade "A" milk processing and production.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and problem resolution.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance schedules and management.
  • Experience with Tetra Pak UHT processing equipment.
  • Good organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and an understanding of basic automation processes.
  • Familiarity with valves, pumps, motors, RTDs, and sensors.
  • An understanding of the PMO and its requirements in dairy processing.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments and on concrete floors.
  • Ability to wear required hearing and eye protection.
  • Ability to handle prolonged periods of standing.
