Telecommunications Outside Plant Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Outside Plant Engineer to join our team at RJE Telecom. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing outside plant work orders and providing necessary field and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design outside plant work orders using advanced knowledge of outside plant design and telecommunications engineering concepts.
  • Provide administrative and field support to the outside plant provisioning process, including coordinating fieldwork and preparing work order drawings and documentation.
  • Be familiar with various communications outside plant engineering concepts, including copper cable, fiber optic cable, and coax cable.
  • Prepare work order estimated expenditures and/or placement and joint use memos.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Verizon design experience with fiber.
  • Knowledge of drawing jobs in a CAD program.
  • Advanced knowledge of outside plant design.
  • Knowledge of telephone industry standards, accessing, reading, and interpreting mechanized assignment records.
  • Knowledge of PC software package tools, including word processing, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to interact with all on-line computer systems that Verizon requires.
  • Knowledgeable of all municipal and governmental requirements for all work performed.
  • A HS diploma or equivalent.
