Medical Assistant EMT Job Description

At American Family Care Baseline, we are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Medical Assistant EMT to join our dynamic team. As a Medical Assistant EMT, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, to detect deviations from normal.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients, ensuring they understand their care plan.
  • Prepare equipment and assist the provider during treatment and examination of patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved techniques.
  • Maintain awareness of patient comfort and needs, providing a positive experience.
  • Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures, adhering to guidelines.
  • Order and stock supplies weekly, ensuring a well-stocked work environment.
  • Respond to lab messages and call back requests, sharing responsibility of call back sheets.
  • Utilize lab software and equipment according to proper procedure and instruction.
  • Collect specimens from patients, following approved equipment, sequence, and procedure.
  • Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify the supervisor or provider of patient condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Respond to life-saving situations based on standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Perform drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Ensure patient immunizations are appropriate, well-documented, and administered using approved techniques.
  • Conduct provider referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
  • Document past medical history assessments of patients.
  • Rotate among various clinical services, including lab, medical assistant, and front desk.
  • Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Ensure work areas are neat and clean, fully stocked, and all laundry items have been laundered and put away.
  • Manage difficult and emotional customer situations with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, promoting a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Respond to patient messages, documenting conversations in the electronic medical records system, and assist with patient discharging duties.
