Job Description

Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a CDL Training Adjunct Instructor. As a key member of our Transportation & Logistics program, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering Virginia State CDL Class A & B training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and coordinate CDL Class A & B training programs
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet industry standards
  • Recruit and manage program advisory boards
  • Engage in curriculum and course development
  • Provide academic advising and support to students
  • Participate in college committees and activities
Requirements
  • High school diploma and 5 years non-teaching work experience as a truck driver
  • Possess a current Class A CDL
  • Current knowledge of industry issues and practices
  • Current knowledge of DMV/DOT regulations
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and work independently
  • Must be able to successfully complete background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree
  • Experience providing technical education in classroom/small group setting
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Have MSSC Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Certified Logistics Technician (CLT), and Certified Forklift Technician (CFT) or willingness to complete training to earn the credentials
