About Nashoba Learning Group:
NLG was established to provide a transformative experience for individuals with autism and their families. Our organization employs evidence-based teaching methodologies, delivered by highly trained staff, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual in collaboration with their families.
Currently, NLG serves over 170 individuals ranging from ages three to adult, across more than 60 communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Our mission is to empower individuals to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
Position Overview:
The Physical Therapist will be responsible for delivering consultative services to students throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Therapists will undertake the following duties:
- Consult with a caseload of up to 45 students/members.
- Conduct monthly consultations with teachers, therapists, and clinical staff regarding physical therapy programs.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop IEP objectives for each student.
- Perform annual evaluations and provide PT-related training as needed.
- Adhere to NLG's emergency procedures, including administering First Aid and CPR when necessary.
- Attend monthly meetings, including the PT Meeting and the All Staff Meeting.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Physical Therapist position must possess:
- A master's degree in Physical Therapy.
- A valid MA license in Physical Therapy.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the field.
- References attesting to interpersonal skills, work ethic, and commitment to providing quality education to children with autism.
- Training in Strategies for Limiting Violent Episodes (SOLVE), First Aid, and CPR.
- A valid driver's license in good standing.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to:
- Ensure student safety during outings.
- Implement crisis prevention techniques and manage students weighing from 50 to over 125 pounds when necessary.
- Perform various physical movements, including quick and vigorous use of arms and hands, lifting, and maintaining balance.
