We are seeking a highly skilled Semi-Trailer Technician to join our team at Great Western Trailer (GWT). As a Semi-Trailer Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, replacing, and inspecting semi-trailers in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and safety policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and repair air brake lines, couplers, tanks, valves, shoes, drums, pads, and rotors.
  • Service, low voltage wiring connections, harnesses, lights, batteries, and charging systems.
  • Repair body and chassis rails, side-sheets, caps, doors, retainers, decking, floors, and plates for damage or defect.
  • Lift gate (lubricate and repair), minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Wreck damage on all components of the trailer.
  • Basic and comprehensive repair and fabrication on equipment and components; arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting.
  • Replaces components where necessary or other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in semi-trailer repairs.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation.
  • Owns personal set of hand tools.
  • Broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASE or other industry-recognized certifications helpful; welding certification.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
Work Environment:

Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, with toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles, extremes in temperature and environmental conditions. Usually moderate to loud noise levels. Potential risk of electrical shock. May work in a shop or yard or out of a mobile service vehicle.
