Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing our company's financial procedures, including reconciliations, inventory control, and more. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our company's financial health by analyzing and reporting on financial status, communicating financial results to management, and preparing and maintaining financial records.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and maintain financial records, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and other financial reports.
2. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and review of financial reports/support as necessary.
3. Analyze and report on financial status, including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
4. Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
5. Oversee inventory control, monitoring and evaluating inventory management procedures to ensure they are effective and efficient.
6. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, reporting variances back to management.
7. Ensure compliance with state revenue service, federal, and state requirements by studying regulations and adhering to requirements.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role in the mortgage industry.
3. Expertise in reconciliations and inventory control.
4. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in MS Excel, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
5. Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
6. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently, but also as part of a team.
9. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
10. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
