The Process Improvement Leader for the Defense Engineering Delivery Team will spearhead and advocate for continuous enhancement initiatives aimed at elevating the quality and efficiency of Defense engine offerings. This role is pivotal as it will influence key initiatives critical to the success of Defense Engines.
The ideal candidate will employ effective problem-solving techniques to pinpoint areas ripe for sustainable enhancements and will take charge as the team lead or process owner for continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, JDI, VSA). Furthermore, this individual will mentor and guide the Defense Engineering Delivery Team in adopting the GE Lean Operating Model Flight Deck.
This position offers a significant degree of autonomy, necessitating a high level of operational judgment to achieve desired outcomes.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify, design, and implement process enhancement projects and strategies, including methodologies, tools, and deployment frameworks. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to execute initiatives aimed at streamlining and modernizing processes related to delivery execution. This role will engage across product lines, site leadership, manufacturing, quality assurance, digital technology, and engineering teams. Communicate effectively and promptly with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, regarding recommendations and solutions. Collaborate across Defense Engines products to address systemic production challenges.
- Engage in enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts to facilitate product delivery and support factory innovations (MBE/MBM/ Model Line Transformation), and emerging technologies.
Provide strategic guidance to devise innovative solutions within complex engineering and manufacturing frameworks to enhance producibility, First Time Yield (FTY), and conformity. - Analyze internal and external business challenges and propose best practices to enhance products and processes. Leverage industry insights to inform decision-making processes.
- Utilize a high level of judgment to make decisions and tackle complex tasks or challenges in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering domains. Assess the quality of information provided and engage stakeholders with pertinent inquiries. Offer new solutions to challenges outside established parameters and construct actionable recommendations. Utilize multiple internal and some external resources to arrive at informed decisions.
- Lead cross-functional teams, effectively communicating complex concepts and influencing others' perspectives on specific topics. Guide team members to consider alternative viewpoints.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Quality roles.
- Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience in shop operations or manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to lead programs and projects. Strong project management skills with the capability to plan, market, execute, and deliver on project commitments.
- Prior experience with Lean methodologies and associated tools.
- Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Proven leadership in structured problem-solving methodologies (TOPS8D, PSR, A3).
- Change-oriented mindset - actively promotes process improvements; champions and drives change initiatives; addresses obstacles head-on.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities. Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects effectively. Proficient in documenting, planning, marketing, and executing programs. Established project management expertise.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
