As a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer at Nutrien, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities. Your expertise in electrical engineering and instrumentation will be essential in developing and implementing engineering scopes of work and cost estimates, recommending problem-solving strategies, and managing capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engineering scopes of work and cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation projects
  • Recommend problem-solving strategies, including technical and economic evaluations, schedules, and detail cost estimates
  • Manage capital projects, including detail design, cost control, and reporting, construction management, and startup and training
  • Function as a technical advisor and/or team member to WSA Operations and Maintenance Employee Involvement Teams
  • Ensure all projects under supervision comply with environmental and safety rules and regulations
  • Perform field quality inspections of project construction and plant equipment
  • Develop project management and problem-solving skills under the tutelage of senior project engineers
  • Lead/participate in RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) on a periodic basis
  • Be fully involved in WS safety program, including JHA, KPAs, EBS, Management walk-throughs, etc.

Requirements:

  • A general understanding of electrical engineering principles and a minimum of five to seven years in the chemical industry as a project engineer, engineering designer, and/or maintenance engineer
  • Minimum educational requirement is a B.S. Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Must be knowledgeable of plant safety and environmental policies and procedures and regulatory compliance criteria
  • Ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida is desired
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and other computer aids is essential
  • Must become familiar with quality improvement, teaming, empowerment, and statistical techniques and skills
  • Attend seminars, meetings, and continuing education in the field of expertise are required to maintain an up-to-date working knowledge
  • A detailed knowledge of project engineering and a general knowledge of fertilizer processes is preferred
