Job Title: Child Care Teacher

Join Milwaukee Area Technical College as a Child Care Teacher and contribute to the education and development of young children. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters learning and growth.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Child Care Teacher to join our team at the Mequon campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing educational activities for infants, toddlers, and preschool children. This is an academic year position, typically running from mid-August to mid-May, with up to 19 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare instructional activities and provide general assistance to students in the learning situation of the child development center.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum, including lesson plans, to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Observe and evaluate students enrolled in the Child Development Program, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Implement curriculum that provides for the developmental interests and abilities of the children, facilitating their successful completion of tasks.
  • Respond quickly and directly to children's needs, desires, and messages, adapting responses to their differing styles and abilities.
  • Keep alert to signs of undue stress in children's behavior, keeping the supervisor apprised of children who may be showing signs of physical, emotional, or developmental problems.
  • Prepare exhibits and demonstrations for class presentations, setting up and operating specialized equipment as required.
  • Keep order in classrooms, labs, and other assigned spaces, maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Keep progress records, notes, inventories, and other data pertaining to the division, preparing related reports as required or assigned.
  • Foster cooperative interaction with other staff, students' parents, and student teachers.
  • Participate in in-service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree or 60 college credits in a related Early Childhood field.
  • One to three years of progressive experience in child care teaching.
  • Wisconsin Administrator's Credential - Registry Level 12 Certificate, CPR certification, Shaken Baby Prevention Certificate, and Mandated Reporter Training certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • More than three years of relevant experience in child care teaching.
