About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Imaging Technician to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our digital collections team, you will be responsible for photographing and digitizing our vast collections, ensuring the highest quality images for research and preservation purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess digitization needs and perform high-quality digital imaging of our collections using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Ensure quality control of digital images, performing post-processing tasks such as color correction and image enhancement as needed.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software, providing technical support to staff and students.
  • Train and supervise student staff in the lab, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform digitization tasks.
  • Collaborate with staff in Digital Collection Services and other departments to create and maintain production workflows.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a photography-related field or Library Science.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital photography and digital reformatting.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital imaging software and hardware.
  • Familiarity with Capture One and/or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a professional photography studio or digitization lab.
  • Familiarity with handling fragile library, archival, and museum materials.
