Real-Time Trader

Jupiter Power is seeking a skilled Real-Time Trader to join its team in Houston, TX.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power market operations, with experience in trading and dispatching battery energy storage systems (BESS) in real-time markets.
The Real-Time Trader will be responsible for daily trading and dispatching of BESS in power markets, with an initial concentration in ERCOT.
This role will involve working closely with the trading team, regulatory staff, and data science team to optimize BESS performance and make a quantifiable impact on company P&L.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the operating assets in Real Time by executing trading and scheduling decisions to ensure capacity availability.
- Evaluate proprietary AI dispatch schedules to assist in making real-time operating decisions.
- Work with the SCADA team to identify and troubleshoot real-time communication issues between site equipment, internal data management systems, and third-party partners.
- Apply in-depth ISO/ERCOT market operations knowledge to inform BESS trading and bidding strategies.
- Communicate with Field Operations staff in Real Time regarding asset availability and inputting outages/communicating with Scheduling Entities and ISOs.
- Two or more years of experience in a Real-Time Power role, such as control room operations, power trading, generation scheduling, or asset management.
- Working knowledge in one or more ISOs, preferably ERCOT, CAISO, WECC, SPP, MISO, PJM, IESO, NYISO, or ISONE.
- NERC certification and familiarity with energy storage technologies are advantages.
- A degree in finance, economics, math, electrical theory, electrical power distribution, electrical power generation, or a relevant field.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a high-stress environment while managing time in rapidly changing situations.
