No prior experience in power generation is necessary to enter this field. We provide comprehensive training to transform candidates with a solid understanding of mechanical systems into proficient Generator Technicians. You will then depart from your residence in a company-provided service vehicle to your first assignment. Tasks may include routine Planned Maintenance Inspections or more complex Engine Services, which involve changing oil and filters. You may also handle Quoted Service Repairs or Emergency Trouble Calls. Experienced technicians may engage in the commissioning of newly installed generators, although installation tasks are not part of this role. At the conclusion of each task, you will complete necessary paperwork electronically and synchronize your information through a Mobile Technician Application, which will also provide any schedule updates. You will return home at the end of your workday, with office visits limited to occasions when parts or supplies are needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine and electrical issues on power generation equipment
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs at customer locations or occasionally at our local facility
  • Operate service vehicle safely
  • Perform preventive maintenance on power generation systems
  • Initiate start-ups for new power generation equipment
  • Execute warranty services on power generation systems
  • Complete required documentation and electronic submissions promptly
  • Manage parts inventory within the service vehicle
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call technician schedule
Qualifications:

Education:

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years working with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches.

Essential Requirements:

  • Willingness to engage in training to enhance generator expertise
  • Possession of common hand tools and electrical meters for troubleshooting and maintenance
Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Effective troubleshooting capabilities
  • Understanding of electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
This role involves primarily outdoor work, traveling to various customer sites with occasional tasks in the shop. Employees will face diverse weather conditions and temperatures. Standard travel hazards apply. This position requires frequent work around electricity and other potential hazards, necessitating the use of appropriate safety equipment and practices. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

Clifford Power Systems is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming applications from all qualified individuals.
