KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a vital member of our surgical team, you will serve as the circulating nurse and advocate for patients during the surgical phase. You will adhere to fundamental aseptic techniques while providing nursing care in the operating room. Your role will involve maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for both patients and staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting initial assessments and establishing care priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Making informed nursing decisions through careful evaluation of patient outcomes and modifying care plans as necessary.
  • Utilizing effective communication strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Delegating tasks appropriately to ensure the completion of essential patient care activities.
  • Employing the appropriate chain of command to resolve challenging situations.
  • Systematically reassessing patients to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
  • Implementing and documenting timely interventions based on patient needs and responding to emergencies effectively.
  • Participating in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Engaging in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
  • Contributing to the unit's continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serving as a resource for visitors, physicians, and staff, providing courteous assistance.
  • Assuming relief charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
  • Coordinating team assignments and adjusting them based on patient and unit needs.
  • Maintaining professional development through attendance at seminars and departmental meetings.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana. Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required within six months of hire. A minimum of one year of operating room nursing experience is preferred.

Note: Bonus opportunities are available for external candidates who commit to a specified duration.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an 80-hour bi-weekly pay structure and participation in call rotation.
