Job Overview

KIPP Memphis Public Schools is an integral part of the KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) network, which encompasses a national framework of tuition-free, open-enrollment public schools dedicated to empowering students from underserved communities. Our mission is to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, character, and habits necessary for success in college and beyond. Currently, KIPP Memphis serves over 1,800 K-12 students across four schools and supports nearly 900 alumni through our KIPP Forward Program.

As a leader in delivering high-quality education, the KIPP Memphis team collaborates with various community organizations to enhance the educational landscape in Memphis. Our aim is to create engaging, academically rigorous schools that prepare students for their chosen paths—be it college, career, or other pursuits—enabling them to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to a more equitable society.

Role Responsibilities

The Instructional Leadership Coach plays a vital role within the consultancy team at assigned schools, collaborating closely with school leadership to pinpoint areas for improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting classroom observations and providing constructive feedback to enhance instructional practices.
  • Facilitating professional development sessions and demonstrating effective teaching strategies.
  • Coaching teachers individually and in small groups to build their instructional capacity.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to refine personal instructional leadership skills.
  • Utilizing data analysis to inform instructional planning and decision-making aligned with school and regional priorities.
  • Identifying and leveraging resources to meet school-specific needs.
  • Designing and implementing professional development initiatives at various levels within the school.
Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Current teachers must possess a level 3, 4, or 5 evaluation, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • Active Tennessee teaching license with an appropriate endorsement for the grade level; Administrator Licensure is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of educational laws and regulations, particularly No Child Left Behind.
  • In-depth knowledge of effective instructional principles and curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong organizational abilities.
