Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Smelter Process Control Operator to join our team at Alcoa. As a key member of our potroom operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient production of high-quality aluminum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain optimal pot operation by monitoring and adjusting process parameters, including current distribution, voltage, and anode effects.
- Perform regular tapping and charging operations to maintain pot levels and ensure consistent product quality.
- Operate overhead cranes and other equipment to move materials and supplies throughout the potroom.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and resolve process issues, and implement improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as process control, safety procedures, and quality assurance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
- Minimum one year of experience in a related role, preferably in the aluminum industry.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
