Southwire Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at our Monroe Township, NJ facility. As a key member of our EHS team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and developing effective EHS strategies to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Compliance and Training: Develop and implement EHS training programs to ensure all employees are aware of and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Expertise: Provide regulatory expertise to ensure all facility activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- EHS Program Management: Plan, organize, and implement EHS activities at the facility, including monitoring all facility activities to ensure regulatory and company requirements are met.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation: Manage the incident reporting process and support site personnel in investigating incidents and injury-free events, implementing corrective actions from internal and external audits, and communicating with regulatory agencies, as required.
- Capital Project Requests: Develop capital project requests for machine guarding, ergonomics, dock safety, and other hazard mitigation projects.
- Team Member Engagement: Drive Team Member engagement to create and foster a proactive, empowered safety culture.
- EHS Performance Metrics: Establish and report site key EHS performance metrics to ensure scorecard objectives are met.
- Process Improvements: Coordinate process improvements that will reduce injuries and incidents and minimize employee exposures and environmental impacts.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline or other program applicable to the health, safety, and environmental fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in industrial health, safety, and environmental activities.
- Working knowledge of the VPP process and various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc...).
- Professional certification is desired.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
- Excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
