Pharmacy Technician, Retail

At CARTI, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pharmacy Technician to join our retail pharmacy team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to accurately prepare medications for dispensing to our patients. Your exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will make you an invaluable asset to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists with filling medications and providing excellent customer service to patients.
- Prepare medications for distribution to other clinics and maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Follow all rules and regulations set by the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy and maintain accurate records of dispensing and invoices.
- Oversee the execution of replacement drug orders and track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor pharmacy dispensing records and discern qualified patients based on individual criteria.
- Review prescriptions to obtain correct dosing information and verify third-party eligibility tools.
- Initiate drug replacement or assistance orders accurately and timely in accordance with the criteria set forth by assistance programs.
- Monitor submitted drug orders and verify shipment receipt by CARTI in a timely manner.
- Reconcile replacement drug shipments received to orders placed and maintain accurate records.
- Obtain prior authorization from PBM for patients prescribed medications and utilize shipping tools and packing materials to ensure safe packaging.
- Verify invoices of received drugs and maintain accurate records of inventory levels.
- Facilitate resolution of outstanding replacement or reimbursement issues and analyze pharmacy billing system to ensure accurate charges and reimbursements.
- Follow policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth by CARTI Pharmacy and provide oversight to PDP assistance programs.
- Stay current with new drug releases, their purpose, and obtain information on any assistance programs associated with the drug.
- Document clear, concise, and complete notes in appropriate systems in a timely manner and notify Director of Pharmacy, pharmacy manager, or pharmacist of any issues immediately.
- Maintain sample inventory and properly dispense samples from inventory to physicians at their request.
- Be willing to train and help with certain duties in the chemo mixing services area as time permits.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- 1 year experience in a retail pharmacy, preferred.
- Knowledge of private payers, Medicare, Medicaid, marketplace, commercial, and alternate funding sources and reimbursement processes.
- Ability to read and understand medical records to determine if drugs are being used for an FDA-approved indication.
- Communicate effectively over the telephone to set up shipment or pick-up of patient's medication.
- Understand prescription billing and accounts receivable issues.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians, other departmental Team Members, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
Physical Demands:

- The Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position involves potential exposure to infectious diseases. Team Members are offered appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
