Job Title: Asphalt Groundsperson

We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Groundsperson to support plant production and maintenance at our Pikes Creek Quarry and Pikes Creek Asphalt facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Perform plant maintenance, including cleaning and upkeep of equipment and facilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including catwalks, walkways, and general plant area
  • Proactively learn plant functions and operations, and obtain all necessary knowledge to complete assigned tasks
  • Work effectively in a team environment, taking direction from and collaborating with other site personnel
  • Cross-train to learn all jobs of the plant and be able to substitute when necessary
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience and/or training
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including movement, lifting, and other relevant tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ months of related experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, particularly loaders
  • Experience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting
  • MSHA or other relevant safety certification
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and high, precarious places. They will also be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
