Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health is seeking a skilled Veterinary Research Services Specialist to provide emergency and scheduled back-up support for the Attending Veterinarian and Associate Director of Veterinary Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical veterinary purposes, facility emergencies, and regulatory tasks related to laboratory animals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical care to a broad range of species, including rodents, rabbits, swine, sheep, and calves, in a PRN and back-up setting.
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
The ideal candidate will possess a DVM/VMD/BVSc degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school and completion of a formal Laboratory Animal Medicine residency training program or at least 4 years of experience working with laboratory animals. Experience with supervision and management of staff is preferred.
Clinical and diagnostic acumen of rodent and USDA species, critical thinking, and proactivity are required to enhance and improve the TJU research community and the animal care and use program.
