Aircraft Mechanic I Job Description

M1 Support Services is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic I to join our team. As an Aircraft Mechanic I, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on aircraft systems, including power plants, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, and general mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on aircraft systems, including power plants, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, and general mechanical maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components, including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers (input/extract data).
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Obtain/maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Current valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must be willing and able to deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
  • Minimum 2 years of Aviation Maintenance experience as an Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) required.
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) Power Plant - Preferred.
  • Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides) - Preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications-read, interpret, follow, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
  • Must have working knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
  • Have working knowledge base of DOD aviation maintenance program instruction, and understand how the outlined policies and procedures apply to the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of aircraft and associated systems.
Working Conditions:
  • Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
