Job Overview

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a skilled Highway Electrical Technician I to join our team in Orlando/Ocoee, FL. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair of highway lighting systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit
  • Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through openings
  • Trace out short circuits in wiring
  • Follow Company and client Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order
  • Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment
  • Work from elevated locations, possibly as high as 60', sometimes near water in a bucket truck
  • Perform hurricane season preparation and post-storm clean-up
  • Perform Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) as needed and during on-call needs
  • Temporary traffic control to support first responders and accident victims with lane closures/flagging
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and work site inspections
  • Perform pre-storm preparation and post-storm evaluation during hurricane season
  • Log maintenance work-order information and checklists manually and electronically
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site
  • Load and unload equipment, supplies, tools, and material
  • Use all equipment safely
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements
  • 18+ years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of Residential or Commercial Experience
  • Ability to work with 277/480 volts
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a medical certification
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in English
  • Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to work along local roadways, interstates, and/or highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speed
  • Ability to adhere to on-call schedule and emergency call backs as necessary
  • Obtain MOT certificate (coursework and certification paid for by The Company)
  • Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date
  • Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), and drug screen
Location and Compensation

The position will primarily work onsite in Orlando/Ocoee, FL.

Expected Salary: $17/hr
