Role Summary
As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of clinical nutrition operations. Key responsibilities include collaborating with healthcare personnel, engaging in nutrition-related programs, and ensuring the performance of the Nutrition Care Supervisor and Dining Services staff meets established safety and efficacy standards. You will also be involved in policy updates, food safety implementation, and staff onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and uphold policies and standards to deliver optimal Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to residents, including malnutrition screenings and individual clinical assessments.
- Demonstrate proficiency with the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 for resident assessments and documentation.
- Understand the Patient-driven Payment Model (PDPM) and its implications for nutritional risk identification and reimbursement standards.
- Contribute to the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program through audits and adherence to clinical nutrition standards.
- Utilize available resources to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Support the performance evaluation of Nutrition Care Supervisors and Dining Services staff, fostering their professional development through education and feedback.
- Participate in budget planning as necessary.
- Design and implement nutrition and wellness initiatives tailored to the specific needs of the resident population.
- Establish collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to resident care.
- Develop and conduct in-service training programs for nursing and dining staff, as well as interdisciplinary teams, to promote ongoing education.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain professional registration and continuing education requirements.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including those pertaining to equal employment opportunities.

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
- Successful completion of a national examination by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Maintain required state licensure/certification for dietetics practice.
