Job Title: Senior IT Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our team at Steampunk. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Active Directory management, including Domain Controllers, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS, with a focus on security
  • Single-sign-on (SSO) that operates within the DHS standards and SSO infrastructure, such as Active Directory Federation Services and Okta
  • Security Information and Event Management tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, and Change Auditor
  • Microsoft Azure, Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), and O365 management, including Microsoft Teams
  • Virtualization software such as Nutanix or VMware, and Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions
  • Understanding of Change Request and Change Control Board processes
  • Enhancements, implementation, and maintenance of client platforms (i.e. desktop, laptop, VDI), that include software images and hardware configurations and image updates
  • Provide level of effort estimates to project managers as requested to develop and meet project schedules; Provide technical advice and develop solutions as required
  • Build servers per customer standard build guidelines and SOPs; Harden and work with Cyber Security to remediate findings per network security scans
  • Implement security and standardization in the form of DoD STIGs and other security guidelines
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for management and automation of Windows system tasks
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), As Is documentation, Installation Instructions and any other required O&M and help desk documentation as required
  • Work with Infrastructure and Engineering team members to meet requirements and deadlines
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience managing IT systems at the senior level and/or;
  • Associate's Degree, with a preference of Bachelors degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.
  • Minimum of 1 Technical Certification: MCSA or MCSE, Azure or M365, VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) or Nutanix certified%-DCV or Higher), Red Hat, etc.
  • Preference of also holding CompTIA Security+ or similar security certification
  • Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team. Ability to research and resolve problems efficiently and accurately, and establish any associated solution artifacts.
  • Strong system and network troubleshooting abilities
  • Familiar with Windows Server operating systems, specifically Windows Server 2019 and 2022.
  • Familiar with storage technologies and concepts, to include iSCSI, SAN, and NAS.
  • Familiar with enterprise backup solutions and policies.
  • Familiar with scripting in a Windows environment
  • Performs detail-oriented task in an independent environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience providing project briefs to senior executives
  • Ability to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
