Job Overview

Position Summary

The Specialty Pharmacy Patient Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring that prescriptions are accurately processed and delivered, while also guiding patients in their medication management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison among the Specialty Pharmacy, patients, and healthcare providers
  • Verify that all essential information, including insurance details, is ready for prescription processing
  • Gather clinical outcome data from patients to monitor treatment effectiveness
  • Provide comprehensive information about company services and programs to patients and healthcare staff
  • Engage with patients regarding prescription refills and medication adherence
  • Direct any medication-related inquiries to licensed healthcare professionals
  • Utilize pharmacy dispensing software to manage prescription refills
  • Document all communications with patients and healthcare providers
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with patients and clarify payment obligations
  • Assist in obtaining prior authorizations for medications
  • Guide uninsured or underinsured patients to suitable assistance programs
  • Stay informed about emerging treatment options and trends
  • Relay patient updates to healthcare providers and clinics
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times
  • Exhibit problem-solving skills and work autonomously
  • Ensure accurate scheduling of patient deliveries over a 90-day timeframe
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Mandatory: Licensed Pharmacy Technician registered with the State
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of relevant customer service experience
  • Preferred: Background in insurance or healthcare
  • Required: Compliance with state certification requirements or completion of an approved training program
