Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to students in a school setting. As a School Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the application of the nursing process and delivering student care in accordance with District and Amergis Healthcare's philosophy, standards, policies, and physician orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student care needs
  • Demonstrate skillful nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders and Individualized Health Plans (IHPs)
  • Perform interventions, treatments, and medication administration as outlined in the IHP
  • Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
  • Complete documentation per district expectations
  • Coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources to meet student needs
  • Communicate with school district personnel about student plans of care and IHPs
  • Notify District School Nurse, Parent, and Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding changes in student condition and physician notification to obtain necessary orders
  • Collaborate with school and education personnel, as well as other health agencies, to design and meet student health care needs
  • Evaluate and assure student safety at all times
  • Adhere to Amergis Healthcare and school district policies
  • Maintain accuracy in student health records
  • Adhere to district protocol and policy at all times
  • Participate in student care conferences and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as requested by the school district
  • Support student medical needs during transport, as applicable
Requirements
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
  • One year of school nursing experience, preferred
  • Pediatric experience, preferred
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program, when applicable
  • Current CPR, if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable
  • Current Health certificate, per contract or state regulation
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training, as applicable to job site
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals, including supervisors, coworkers, clients, via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
