Job Title: Videographer/Editor - 1099

Location: Remote

Travel: Occasional

Type: 6-Month Contract

Red Carrot is seeking a highly skilled Videographer/Editor to join our team in supporting our federal government client. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, filming, producing, and editing audiovisual products used for education, instruction, and public information purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of functions during different phases of a production, including script writing, filming, photography, production, editing, and final distribution of the product.
  • Perform all post-production processes, including assembling, adjusting, and enhancing the audio and visual elements to produce a finished production using a variety of computerized equipment.
  • Ensure that materials presented are factual and authentic and coordinate scripting, location, props, equipment, and/or graphics; write scripts, production schedules, combine audiovisual and written material.
  • Participate in the tactical elements of any broadcast productions or live events in the field and ensure that all technical aspects of broadcasts and live events are executed without problems.
  • Ensure broadcast standards, production values, and aesthetic quality are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Competence:

  • Capture video using studio and field cameras and utilize lighting support for television productions in the field and the studio.
  • Capture audio using an array of microphones, mixers, and other equalizing equipment for television productions in the field and the studio.
  • Configure and operate camera equipment/systems and assist in the recording and transmission of live and pre-recorded video productions.
  • Keep abreast of the latest technologies, advances in television, audiovisual production, and distribution systems.
  • Use various software packages, such as non-linear editors, motion graphics programs, image and photo editing tools, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and desktop publishing to complete work.
  • Complete post-production processes, including assembling, adjusting, and enhancing the audio and visual elements to produce a finished production using a variety of computerized equipment.
  • Assemble, adjust, and enhance the audio and visual elements of a product using a variety of computerized equipment.
  • Obtain video of the organization's operation activities and announcements using a variety of electronic devices.
  • Take photos of the organization's activities and operations.
  • Upload audiovisual products to the appropriate location for distribution.

Attention to Detail:

  • Estimate requirements to cover, materials, facilities, funding, and services to support the organization's mission.
  • Ensure audiovisual equipment, supplies, and other property accountable to that person are in good working order.

Written Communication:

  • Provide assistance in script preparation, creating electronic graphics to enhance presentation, edit videotape for roll-ins, and review and edit finished programs.
  • Work with headquarters to assist in managing the media library to identify and catalog appropriate b-roll media releases and other media asset requirements.
  • Write and/or edit reports, briefings, information papers, and other material.
  • Write scripts to combine audiovisual and written material.
  • Ensure that the materials presented are factual and authentic, requiring coordination in regard to location and background materials.

Decision Making:

  • Act as a field technical expert by handling audio and visual requirements for announcements, ceremonies, and press conferences.
  • Safeguard highly technical and valuable electronic equipment and operate technical equipment such as video cameras, still cameras, and other audiovisual equipment as required.
  • Edit and when needed compress video footage and photographs of agency's activities and operations.

Oral Communication:

  • Act as the office liaison with local offices for all audio-visual needs.
  • Initiate and maintain personal contacts with personnel in other agencies, as well as with local vendors, contractors, and representatives.
  • Participate in operational meetings to ensure all safety protocols and law enforcement guidelines are followed during the filming and photographing of Organizational operations, activities, and events.

Planning and Evaluating:

  • Coordinate sets, lighting, shoots, and edits video and photos.
  • Participate in the pre-production planning to ensure selection and use of the most effective audiovisual approaches.
  • Ensure production values and aesthetic quality is met. Estimate travel costs to travel to other locations to obtain video and photographs of the Organization's activities and operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience as a full-time videographer/video editor in a corporate or government setting.
