About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Merrill Gardens. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our senior living community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance projects, including installations and repairs involving plumbing, electrical equipment, fire and sprinkler equipment, HVAC, landscape, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.
  • Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained and repaired.
  • Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  • Responsible for all in-house plumbing, electrical work, and painting of apartments and common areas.
  • Repair, clean, and maintain all carpet, floor coverings, and furniture.
  • Document safety issues and physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance and cleaning of community vehicles.
  • Assist with training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating, and HVAC skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of fire suppression and irrigation systems.
  • Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
  • Flexible and must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
