Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols and provider orders.
  • Document patient interactions and care in the medical record.
  • Participate in telephone triage and provide patient education and instructions.
  • Assist with laboratory and diagnostic tests, including tracking and logging results.
  • Pre-visit planning with providers and care teams.
  • Medication administration, including injections.
  • Check vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists.
  • May assist with health maintenance requirements.
  • Assist providers during procedures and examinations, and perform instrument and room clean-up.
  • Utilize standard precautions and comply with CHS policies, OSHA standards, CLIA regulations, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Report patient conditions and reactions to providers following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.
  • Assist with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization.
  • Participate in electronic documentation of care at the direction of providers.
  • May enter orders in EMR per provider order.
  • Perform waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing, including Point of Care testing for Hemoglobin A1C and other Point of Care testing as applicable.
Requirements
  • Current license to practice as an LPN in NC or SC.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds, as well as the ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform manual finger dexterity tasks.
