Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Family Medicine team at Prevea Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
  • Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders, and prepare patient charts.
  • Instruct patients and families as directed within the scope of licensure or certification.
  • Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures and prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
  • Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards and ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.
Requirements
  • Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing is required.
  • 160 hours of hands-on patient care is required.
  • Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
  • Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess skills to effectively solve problems.
  • Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant in the state of WI through an approved accreditor is required.
  • Valid Practical Nursing license in the state of WI through an approved accreditor is required.
  • Licensed EMT or AEMT and maintain this credential throughout employment is required.
  • CPS/BLS Certification Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from approved program or Prevea sponsored program is required.
Working Conditions
  • Extreme cold, extreme heat, humidity, wet, noise, and hazards are rare.
Hearing and Vision Requirements
  • Hears whispers < 3 feet constantly.
  • Hears whispers 3-8 feet constantly.
  • Color discrimination, near vision, and distance vision are constantly required.
