Position Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist applies clinical expertise to address respiratory care challenges. As an integral member of the healthcare team, and under medical supervision, the therapist performs a variety of procedures tailored to meet the respiratory needs of patients across different age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify respiratory care requirements and provide recommendations in line with established protocols. Evaluate treatment effectiveness and maintain accurate documentation as per departmental and regulatory standards.
- Execute advanced evaluation and therapeutic interventions for patients needing respiratory support. Monitor intervention outcomes and ensure precise documentation.
- Complete necessary training and competency assessments within the specified timeframe, ensuring ongoing proficiency in designated areas.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation and billing processes.
- Assist in facilitating patient transitions to appropriate referral services or home care, providing education on respiratory matters to patients and their families.
- Provide instruction and training to fellow respiratory care staff, nursing personnel, and students regarding patient care and respiratory services.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education is required.
- Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan is required upon hire.
- Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care is required upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 90 days.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.
- Individuals currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program are encouraged to apply to connect with a recruiter for further discussions regarding opportunities.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with variable shifts.
