The role of the Patient Services Representative / Occupational Therapy Assistant is pivotal in creating a welcoming environment for all visitors to the outpatient rehabilitation department. This position is essential in ensuring that patients receive prompt and efficient service, thereby enhancing their overall experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct patients, family members, and guests to the appropriate therapy professionals.
- Verify that patients have all necessary documentation to avoid delays in service.
- Act as a liaison between the facility and the public, both in person and via telephone.
- Maintain the patient waitlist to ensure timely service delivery.
- Keep the lobby area tidy and notify relevant departments of any maintenance needs.
- Record patient information accurately and manage insurance documentation.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and ensure messages are relayed effectively.
- Schedule appointments for physical therapy and obtain necessary insurance authorizations.
Therapeutic Duties:
Under the supervision of licensed therapists, the individual will:
- Administer physical and occupational therapy treatments as directed.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and monitor their progress.
- Utilize various modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Assist patients in improving their functional abilities and daily living skills.
- Document patient responses to treatments and collaborate with therapy staff for comprehensive care planning.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with electronic health records and insurance processes is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must demonstrate good physical health, with the ability to:
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Lifting at least 10 pounds as needed.
