Job Overview
Oversees the personnel and operations of the carpentry workshop to guarantee effective management, service delivery, construction, and maintenance across the organization, ensuring all tasks are executed to departmental standards and comply with all relevant local and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Advances the objectives of the Carpentry department by selecting, inspiring, and training skilled team members. Directs the efforts of assigned Carpentry personnel by providing clear communication and guidance to meet departmental goals.

Executes senior-level functions related to the carpentry workshop for various projects throughout the organization; possesses extensive knowledge of carpentry and construction practices.

Manages hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations of staff; ensures timely completion of performance reviews.

Collaborates with project managers to define project scopes, including safety evaluations, labor requirements, customer expectations, materials, equipment, and necessary shutdowns, while developing project timelines.

Coordinates and leads the implementation of construction projects; prepares material lists from drawings, organizes pre-orders, and assists with project estimations.

Communicates construction specifications with external architects and design engineers to ensure functionality and alignment with organizational needs; schedules and oversees in-house labor while procuring necessary materials and equipment.

Works in partnership with external contractors when necessary to plan and execute tasks that exceed the capabilities of the in-house team; manages area shutdowns and notifications for projects and service requests.

Collaborates with other trade supervisors to plan and execute projects according to specifications and scope; ensures project plans for in-house staff comply with building codes, safety regulations, organizational standards, and regulatory requirements; supervises adherence to Pre-Construction Risk Assessment (PCRA) protocols.

Ensures that in-house construction personnel are trained and comply with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), participation in safety meetings, and adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Maintains open communication with management regarding daily challenges, project statuses, and ongoing issues; keeps detailed records of safety reports, incident reports, project timelines, hours worked, and status updates; supervises and coordinates with the construction team and other engineering departments to ensure all new construction and service work is conducted safely.

Qualifications
Associate's Degree required, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience. 4-6 years of pertinent experience and 0-2 years of leadership/management experience are required. Experience in carpentry is preferred. Experience in commercial settings is also preferred. A valid driver's license is preferred.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $79,880-$136,340/year. Salary ranges displayed on third-party job sites may not accurately reflect the ranges provided by Northwell Health.
