Supervision:
This position does not have any direct reports.
Role Summary:
Under close supervision, the Custodial Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive cleaning services in various customer locations or designated areas. This includes maintaining cleanliness in conference rooms, offices, cafeterias, courthouses, classrooms, government facilities, and shared spaces. The role requires knowledge of cleaning practices, equipment, and safety protocols to ensure a hazard-free environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform cleaning tasks using appropriate equipment and supplies, adhering to safety procedures.
2. Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, common areas, and cafeterias.
3. Dispose of waste and replace trash liners.
4. Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
5. Clean tables and kitchen appliances.
6. Vacuum carpets, sweep, mop, and deodorize floors.
7. Clean walls, organize furniture, and maintain window treatments.
8. Utilize the correct cleaning agents on all surfaces and replenish dispensers.
9. Ensure quality of work and customer satisfaction, responding to requests as needed.
10. Address spills promptly.
11. Maintain custodial equipment in safe working condition.
12. May involve floor waxing and buffing on a regular basis.
13. Potentially operate equipment such as a cardboard baler.
14. Monitor inventory and supply levels.
15. Complete additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 0 to 1 year of experience in custodial services preferred.
- Ability to follow safety instructions for chemical and equipment use.
- Willingness to learn specialized cleaning equipment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and address inquiries.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships.
- Flexibility to work evenings and adapt to changing schedules.
- Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be capable of performing the following physical tasks:
- Maneuvering throughout the worksite
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Pushing or pulling cleaning equipment and carts
- Climbing ladders or step stools as necessary.
Work Environment:
This position is performed in an office setting or at various customer locations, which may include federal courthouses or military facilities. Employees may encounter exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise from equipment, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
