Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Technician position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing various aspects of work associated with maintenance of the hospital's facilities. This role involves completing basic assigned tasks, performing safety and preventative maintenance inspections, and obtaining materials necessary for job completion. The Facilities Technician participates in the maintenance and testing of emergency systems and completes basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
* Performs entity surveillance through rounding and issuing of work orders to identify opportunities for facility improvements
* Assists other technicians and associated personnel in maintaining the operation of the central plant and daily operations of the facility
* Conducts basic analysis, troubleshooting, and general maintenance repair, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing as appropriate
* Prioritizes work activities and maintains set timelines to optimize response time on work order trouble tickets
* Follows department safety standards and policies and conducts all procedures accordingly
Requirements
* High School diploma or equivalent education
* Two years of general maintenance-related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment
* Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers in a customer service-focused manner
* Ability to complete work within designated time frames and access information within the department and hospital system
