Cancer Specialists of North Florida is seeking a qualified IV Pharmacy Technician – Floater to join our specialty practice. This role involves executing the technical and nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record-keeping, and inventory management.

The Pharmacy Technician will be tasked with:

  • Compounding or admixing medications under supervision to prepare medication orders.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies for retail pharmacy medications.
  • Verifying completeness of orders, patient information, and physician authorizations.
  • Checking for insurance approvals prior to medication preparation.
  • Accurately admixing drugs as per physician orders, adhering to departmental and safety guidelines.
  • Calculating dosages accurately, including metric and apothecary conversions, subject to final verification.
  • Maintaining records for the indigent patient drug program as necessary.
  • Conducting weekly counts of controlled substances and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Properly disposing of materials used in the preparation of IV medications.
  • Cleaning the compounding hood and/or clean room daily, especially between admixtures.
  • Logging and dating all medications in use, checking for expiration dates, and maintaining accurate temperature logs.
  • Keeping detailed logs for protocol and patient assistance medications.
  • Maintaining documentation of lot numbers and other control records.
  • Assisting with inventory management to ensure adequate supply levels across departments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a pharmacy setting with IV skills is essential.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a Florida registered technician license.
  • IV certification is highly preferred.

Compensation:

  • Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
