Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for performing technical tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, and inventory control. This includes calculating dosages, verifying patient information, and assisting with compounding or admixing medications under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision
  • Verify patient information and proper physician authorization
  • Calculate correct dosages, including metric and apothecary equivalents
  • Maintain indigent patient drug program
  • Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records
  • Properly dispose of materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs
  • Clean hood and/or 797 clean room daily
  • Log and date all drugs used, check for outdates, and maintain accurate temperature logs
  • Assist with inventory control of medications and other supplies
  • Complete monthly pharmacy checklist and submit to central pharmacy
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and medical staff information
  • Understand and demonstrate aseptic techniques and procedures
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of three years in a pharmacy with IV skills
  • Florida registered technician
  • I.V. certification strongly preferred
