About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Prevention Specialist - Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team at West Virginia University. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing comprehensive prevention programs to address discrimination, sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, bullying, and issues related to diversity and equity. Key Responsibilities:


  1. Develop and implement evidence-based prevention programs, including bystander education, consent, healthy relationships, and other initiatives to promote a culture of respect and social responsibility.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with campus partners, including student organizations, faculty, and staff, to ensure effective collaboration and coordination of prevention efforts.
  3. Provide training and technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff on topics related to prevention, consent, and social responsibility.
  4. Develop and maintain educational materials, including social media content, to promote prevention and social responsibility initiatives.
  5. Coordinate campus-wide events and initiatives to promote prevention and social responsibility, including awareness months, workshops, and performances.
  6. Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator and other campus partners to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to prevention and response to sexual misconduct.
  7. Provide advocacy services to students affected by sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking, using an empowerment model to provide clear and timely information.
  8. Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness of prevention programs and make data-driven decisions to improve programming.
  9. Stay current on best practices in prevention and social responsibility, and apply this knowledge to inform program development and implementation.


Requirements:

Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



At least one year of experience in prevention education and bystander intervention programs addressing discrimination, sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, bullying, and issues related to diversity and equity.



Experience researching, developing, implementing, and documenting training programs.



Knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX.



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the institution.



Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy and excellent judgment.



Valid driver's license.



Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
