Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist Registered to join our team at University Hospital, Newark NJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering pulmonary therapeutics, conducting pulmonary function studies, and providing patient education in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer pulmonary therapeutics and conduct pulmonary function studies under the supervision of the Director of Pulmonary Function Lab and Respiratory Care Services supervisor.
  • Provide patient education as needed, ensuring that patients and their families understand their treatment plans and are empowered to take an active role in their care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct pulmonary stress testing and obtain medical and pulmonary history from patient charts as required.
Qualifications
  • Must possess the ability, education, and training required to meet the needs of patients of all ages based on age and developmental status.
  • Successful completion of a study from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Must possess the Registry (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Certified as a Pulmonary Function Technologist preferred.
  • Must have a valid license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current BLS certificate is required and successful completion of all mandatory competencies and training as required by the Joint Commission, DOH, and other regulatory agencies.
Continuing Education Requirements

Must complete 30 Continuing Education Credits (CE) for renewal of biennial license. State Board of Respiratory Care Subchapter 13:44F-10.1.
