A client of Insight Global is seeking a Clearable CAD Mechanical Design Engineer to work fully onsite in Belcamp, MD.
This individual will be responsible for the research, planning, design, development, and integration of mechanical systems.
They will participate in concept development based on contract requirements and utilize their knowledge of SolidWorks CAD Software for modeling.
Additionally, they will participate in regular presentations and briefs to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into design concepts.
- Create detailed 3D models using CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to visualize designs and ensure manufacturability.
- Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts and iterate as needed.
- Evaluate materials for performance, cost, and sustainability, considering factors like strength, weight, and environmental impact.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and industrial designers, to integrate design elements seamlessly.
- Continuously improve designs by analyzing performance data, conducting simulations, and identifying areas for enhancement.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production and resolve any design-related issues.
- Conduct design reviews, tolerance analyses, and risk assessments to maintain high-quality standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation in product design.

Active DoD Secret Clearance Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint5 to 10 years of experience within SolidWorks CAD software (CREO, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.). Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection. Ability to create detailed 3D models using CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to visualize designs and ensure manufacturability. Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and materials. Ability to obtain U. S. DoD SECRET clearance within six months of employment.
