Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our After School Program team as an After School Counselor. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping children learn and grow at our elementary school site.
Responsibilities:
- Program Planning and Implementation: Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans that align with our established guidelines and promote the social, emotional, and academic growth of our students.
- Supervision and Safety: Supervise children, classroom, and all activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Child Development and Support: Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child to provide individualized support and guidance.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians, engage parents as volunteers, and foster a sense of community among our families.
- Program Operations: Maintain program site and equipment, manage required program records, and monitor and engage in games and activities with children.
- Professional Development: Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Emergency Response: Address emergencies as they occur and provide a calm and reassuring presence for our students.
- Cultural Competence: Develop positive, authentic relationships with children from diverse backgrounds and promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Qualifications:
- Meet educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing guidelines (State of GA Childcare Licensing).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience working with children in a developmental setting & with diverse populations preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lead and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings, in various temperatures.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, see, hear, listen and lift (up to 50 pounds).
