The primary objective of the Plant Manager role is to provide comprehensive support to the facility and its team, focusing on equipment installation, personnel recruitment, onboarding, and training; organizational structuring, and the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) essential for effective plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enhance the daily operations of a multi-line bottling and blow molding facility.
  • Ensure that production and related activities meet quality standards while adhering to safety protocols and cost objectives.
  • Lead by example, fostering team development and preparing staff for future growth opportunities in a competitive market.

Qualifications

Ten years of relevant production leadership experience, including a minimum of two years in plant management; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with blow molding technology is advantageous. Preference will be given to local candidates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to inspire and develop teams to enhance performance continually.
  • Establish clear expectations and goals for all employees, ensuring mutual understanding.
  • Model exemplary behavior in treating individuals with respect and managing performance.
  • Collaborate with others to address challenges using both internal and external resources.
  • Facilitate effective communication among employees regarding customer service, production status, and scheduled maintenance.

  • Promote initiatives that institutionalize Safety, Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Team Development, and Continuous Improvement.

Business/General Management

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure product compliance with customer and company standards.
  • Support Lean Business Practices and activities within the facility.
  • Review inventory and scheduling to optimize customer service while minimizing costs.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and staff evaluation to meet customer demands efficiently.
  • Maintain plant cleanliness and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) policies.
  • Prepare and submit recommendations for capital equipment, process modifications, and facility enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures throughout the plant.
  • Exemplify safety in all operations, leading by example and expecting adherence to safety protocols from all employees.

Food Safety and Quality Oversight Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Oversee water quality parameters such as TDS, pH, and conductivity.
  • Ensure compliance with packaging specifications, including bottles, caps, and labels.
  • Maintain documentation related to product quality, GMPs, prerequisites, HACCP, and SQF.

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on achieving results.
  • Strong planning and foresight abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Lean Certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, inventory management, and scheduling practices.
  • Experience with manufacturing methodologies such as Kaizen and process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and SQF standards; certification preferred.
  • Understanding of the food industry and relevant regulations; IBWA CPO certification preferred.
