The primary responsibility of the Plant Manager is to provide essential support to the facility and its team, focusing on equipment installations, personnel recruitment, onboarding, and training; organizational structuring, and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for effective plant management.

The Plant Manager will oversee and enhance the daily operations of a multi-line bottling and blow molding facility. This role encompasses overall accountability for production and production-related functions, ensuring that quality products are produced safely and efficiently while adhering to cost targets. The Plant Manager will also exemplify leadership, foster team development, and prepare team members for future growth opportunities in a dynamic market.



Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a minimum of ten years of relevant production leadership experience, including at least two years in plant management. A degree in a related field, either an Associate or Bachelor’s, is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with blow molding technology is advantageous. Preference will be given to local candidates.



Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to inspire and develop teams for continuous performance improvement. Experience in creating training programs for exempt staff is essential.
  • Establish clear expectations for all employees, ensuring that goals are measurable and recognized.
  • Lead by example, showcasing effective treatment of individuals, addressing disciplinary matters, and managing varying performance levels.
  • Collaborate with others to resolve issues using both internal and external resources, supporting decisions with data and thorough discussions.
  • Facilitate meetings to enhance team communication, ensuring awareness of customer service, production status, downtime, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Encourage all employees to prioritize follow-up by modeling this behavior and ensuring commitments are met.
  • Promote initiatives that embed Safety, Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Team Development, and Continuous Improvement within the department.

Business Management

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure product compliance with customer and company standards, maintaining timely communication with all teams regarding performance.
  • Provide leadership and support for Lean Business Practices and initiatives.
  • Review inventory levels and scheduling to optimize customer service while minimizing overall costs.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and staff evaluations to meet customer needs while controlling overtime and staffing levels.
  • Ensure the plant maintains cleanliness and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) policies, keeping the facility 'Inspection Ready' at all times.
  • Prepare and submit recommendations for capital equipment, process enhancements, and facility improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures within the plant.
  • Exemplify safety in all operations, leading by example and expecting adherence to safety protocols from all employees.

Food Safety and Quality Oversight

  • Oversee customer specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Monitor water quality parameters including TDS, pH, and conductivity.
  • Manage bottle specifications including color and size.
  • Ensure proper labeling and coding of products.
  • Supervise packaging processes including wrap, corrugated materials, and adhesive application.
  • Oversee pallet configurations and documentation.
  • Ensure plant compliance with product quality standards, GMPs, prerequisite programs, HACCP, and SQF.

Training in Food Safety and Quality

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to lead teams and achieve results.
  • Strong planning and foresight capabilities.
  • Proficient in current software applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Lean Certification is a plus.
  • Understanding of budgets, inventory management, and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methodologies such as Kaizen and process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and SQF standards; certification is preferred.
  • Awareness of food industry regulations and standards; IBWA CPO certification is preferred.
