Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician PRN plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by providing critical support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. This includes preparing and maintaining essential equipment, supplies, and patient monitoring systems to ensure a safe and optimal patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and organizes equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations.
  • Reviews present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the necessary equipment and supplies for routine and challenging cases.
  • Transports and sets up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, EKG cables, ETCO2 lines, pulse oximetry cables, temperature cables, and oxygen tanks/tubing.
  • Ensures equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure.
  • Follows department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, contrast media, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area.
  • Performs thorough, prompt room turnover between procedures, including cleaning and disinfection, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and cleaning/storing of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation as needed.
  • Calibrates and troubleshoots minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment.
  • Removes and reports all damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Responds promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
Requirements
  • 1 year experience in a perioperative environment as an Anesthesia Tech.
  • Anesthesia Technician certification preferred.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
